SANA works with the Kesho Trust to establish a centre for environmental education in Mkange village. The centre will run programs of environmental education for the communities around the area as well as students from other areas.
Education of environmental issues is important to the communities due to the challenge posed by the big number of people moving establishing settlement and production fields in the area.
Improved infrastructures have fueled people’s movement from Dar es Salaam city to the areas around Saadani National Park. This puts the area in a threat of high demand of land that will lead to more deforestation.
The centre will provide space for researchers to do their studies as well as different environmental workshops and conferences.
